Accountants provide services in reporting and analyzing financial data for their corporation. They are alternately termed private, corporate, industrial, or cost accountants. They generally work as a specialist in an executive team that makes major decisions about expanding production or strategic planning. They can also be involved in budgeting, maximizing expenditures and production, and evaluating performance of personnel and equipment. An accountant also may work as part of an executive team in strategic planning or new product development. Entry-level private accountants often start as cost accountants, junior internal auditors, or as trainees for other accounting positions. They advance to accounting manager, chief cost accountant, budget director, or manager of internal auditing. Some become controllers, treasurers, financial vice presidents, chief financial officers, or corporation presidents.

An auditor examines an organization's financial statements, verifies the accuracy of the financial records, examines management procedures and internal controls to ensure accuracy, and checks for mismanagement, waste, or fraud. The auditor may review company operations compliance with corporate policies, laws, and government regulations. The auditor, or reports to investors and authorities such as the federal government that financial statements have been prepared and reported correctly. Some auditors specialize in electronic data processing, engineering, legal, insurance premium, bank, healthcare, and environmental accounting. Internal auditors may recommend controls for their organization's computer system to ensure the reliability of the system and the integrity of the data it stores.

Tax accountants face a somewhat different lifestyle from auditors and general accountants. Personal income tax accountants, mostly employed at small firms (80 percent of all income tax firms employ five or fewer people) or self-employed, are responsible for tracking clients’ income, making any quarterly payments due to federal or state agencies, then managing the crush of activity preparing and submitting all required paperwork to the federal and state governments on April 15. Corporate tax accountants, however, are involved throughout the year in corporate decision-making, analyzing the tax effects of corporate investment policy, and advising other company managers on tax-planning issues. Corporate tax accountants face a seasonal surge in April similar to the one personal tax accountants face, although to a significantly lesser degree.account executive, account manager, accountancy jobs, accountant job, accounting jobs, tax assistant vacancies, auditors, bookkeeper, chartered accountant.

Public Accountants work for a wide range of clients including businesses, governmental organizations, nonprofit organizations, or personal clients. They usually get certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and work either independently or as a member of an accounting firm. They provide an equally wide range of services, including consulting on taxes, accounting, and auditing. Some might help businesses maximize profits by advising them on taxation, for example suggesting tax deductible expenditures or providing advice to help managements make better decisions.

Government Accountants maintain and examine government records on behalf of the government. They work for government agencies at the federal, state, or local level, or for corporations or individuals who are regulated by the government. Those who work directly for the government ensure that income and spending are appropriate and legal. Those who work for the federal government often work for the and provide other services like investigation of financial institutions, analyzing budgets, administration, or management of finances.

Considering Being an Accountant?

If number crunching, math skills and organization are your strong points, the profession of accounting may be for you. Here is a primer on how.
Accounting is no longer the stereotyped dull job that it used to be. The change in the corporate culture has resulted in adding more glamour and importance to an accountant’s job. In fact, the hot new field is forensic accounting where you don the role of detective to figure out who has been playing funny with the money. The number crunching aspect is still there, but the role is not limited to that alone. In addition, the pay can be lucrative as well
Accountants are classified in to four categories: public, managerial, government accountants and internal auditors. Each category has many sub categories. There are accountants who prepare financial statements, there are accountants who audit financial reports, there are accountants who advise on tax strategies and there are the aforementioned forensic accountants. Therefore, the choice is yours. Evaluate your aptitude and decide which type of accountancy suites you best. If you want to be an accountant with tax consultant specialization, then be prepared to work long hours during the tax-filing period.
Account licensing is controlled by state agencies, not the federal government. As a result, each state handles things slightly differently. If you want to be an accountant, however, the first step is to locate a learning institution providing classes in the field. Make absolutely sure the institution is recognized by the relevant accounting agency for your state, to wit, the degree will mean something.
An excellent way to get your free in the field of accounting is to find a job with an accounting firm. This is advisable even if you have not started full time study since it gives you an opportunity to take in the daily experience associated with the job. Only then can you truly tell whether you are cut out for this demanding, but interesting job.
If you decide to be an accountant, it is off to school. After that, you sit for the CPA examination. It is a monster of a test. It is comprised of four brutal sections. Only 25 percent of the candidates appearing for the examination pass all four sections. How hard is it? If you fail one of the sections, most states allow you to come back and try to pass it again without taking the other sections over again. They say getting your license to practice law is tough, but it is nothing compared to the CPA examination.
To shine among the accountants you may consider obtaining a master’s degree. Being an accountant requires hard work. Be sure that you are prepared for it.

Accounting Job Interview

Accounting Job Interview is the way by which an accounting company finds its right candidate for accounting operations. Like any other interview, accounting job interview comprises of a set of questions – both technical and general – that is meant to assess the candidate on his skills and abilities to see if he/she suits the job better. Yes, an accounting job interview can be a stressful ordeal for a new candidate facing it. But remember, every accounting job interview is a two way deal where the company is evaluating the candidate and him/her in turn analyzing the company to see if it is the right place to work. Before delving into the details of accounting job interview questions, a few words on the general attitude a candidate should be showing all through the ordeal.
In the accounting job interview, respond to the needs and of both you and the interviewer. Not one or the other!
In an accounting job interview, listen to the interviewer closely.
Retain your poise throughout the accounting job interview.
In an accounting job interview process, there is a complete diversity of objectives – a person is there to get a job and the accounting job interview panel is scrutinizing each person to see if he/she is the right fit available. So, in such a scenario, the candidate should ideally market his holdings successfully across to the accounting job interview persons in order to gather their attention. And it should not stop with just presenting your resume with all your skills and qualifications, but should extend to describe how it is directly related to the company and the job’s specific needs. Let us see some more words of wisdom.
In any accounting job interview, the candidate should be punctual to and properly dressed.
Should show good attitude and must be brief but thorough in the presentation style.
Must be enthusiastic meanwhile maintaining the control throughout.
Accounting job interview questions can be of any sort as asked generally in any interview plus the technical ones. It may start with an ‘introduce yourself’ and gradually climbs up to unveil the candidate’s personality, attitude and skills to see if the person suits for the profile.
The possible accounting job interview questions can be:
What are your salary expectations?
Why do you want to leave the previous job and how you got along with your boss and colleagues?
The first accounting job interview question can be answered as ‘in search of a better job or can site career ambitions’. The second one is to prod you to get your general attitude towards your coworkers. Remember, bad mouthing your boss doesn’t set well with the expectations of accounting job interview panel.
How you are different from others or why we should hire you? You can answer that by sighting instances where you did a job differently and emerged in flying colors. If you could answer the second one with calm and compose, then you are half way through.
How many hours do you need to do a job or how long do you take to make a decision? The first accounting job interview is to get an idea about the work ethics you believe in and follow and to see if you are willing to put in long hours to finish a job at hand. It is also an indicator of how well he fit into with other workers. If the person works till 7 PM in a company where others leave at 5 PM and vice versa results in conflicting work ethics and such occurrence can have a negative effect on all the employees and the work as a whole.
For an accounting job interviewer, there cannot be a dearth for questions. But how well a candidate listens, responds and presents himself in an accounting job interview is all what matters when it comes to his/her selection or rejection. It is all about acting smart but rationally!
